| If your idea of camping is a quiet
family campground, then you've come to the right place. Just north of the
town of Arlington on Historic Route 7A you'll find Camping on the
Battenkill. The campground has been owned and operated by the Pratt
Family for over thirty-five years.
ABOUT THE CAMPGROUND Within the 35 acres of the campground there are 48 sites in hardwoods, 37 in a partially wooded area, and 18 in our meadow. Our generously spaced graveled sites are suited to tent camping as well as RV camping. Tents sites are available with no hook-ups or with water and electric. Trailers sites are available with water and electric or with water, electric and sewer hookups. Some sites, located on the river, are considered prime sites and are booked quickly for the summer months for week long stays. Group camping is available in our field area. No motor cycles, mini bikes or mopeds are allowed beyond the office. FACILITIES RECREATION
Southern Vermont is also rich in history. Arlington was Vermont's first capital. It was here that Governor Thomas Chittenden met with Ethan Allen, the leader of the Green Mountain Boys, his brother Ira Allen, founder of the University of Vermont, and Colonial Seth Warner, a leader in the Battle of Bennington. Other views into our past can be found at the Battle Monument, the Bennington Museum, and the Old First Church in nearby Bennington. And Manchester Village, to the north of Arlington, has over 60 well preserved 19th century buildings. The most famous is Hildene, home of Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln. Shopping is also a favorite pastime in the area. Arlington offers such stores as the Sugar Shack, Cheese House and Leopold’s Court. In East Arlington you will find a chocolate shop and several antique shops. While Manchester is known for its older village section, Orvis fly fishing and a variety of shopping outlets. There is something for everyone when it comes to shopping.
