Camping on the Battenkill

Arlington, Vermont

Within the 35 acres of the campground there are 48 sites in hardwoods, 37 in a partially wooded area, and 18 in our meadow. Our generously spaced graveled sites are suited to tent camping as well as RV camping. You can choose from a basic site with no hook ups, electric and water sites, or a site with complete hook ups. Some sites, located on the river, are considered prime sites and are booked quickly for the summer months for week long stays. Group camping is limited to the months of May, June and September. No motor cycles, mini bikes or mopeds are allowed beyond the office.

Our two centrally located comfort stations feature flush toilets, sinks and hot showers. Other services available at the campground are a dumping station, firewood, propane, ice, and fishing licenses.

The Battenkill is known as one of the best trout streams in the East. The challenge is in landing the native trout that reside in the stream. Swimming in the campground is done at the natural swimming hole in the Battenkill where the water is clear and refreshing. For little children who need a quiet area for swimming, there is supervised swimming in the local recreational park, located 1000 feet from the campground. Many campers enjoy bringing their own tubes or canoes and floating down the river. Children and adults alike enjoy our open field for playing ball games, swinging on the swings, or digging in the sand pile.

Things to do

The Southwestern part of Vermont has something for everyone. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are rivers and lakes to fish in, canoe on, or swim in. If hiking is up your alley the area offers shorter easy day hikes or hikes on the Long Trail. Bikers can find a variety of mountain trails or scenic roadways. If covered bridges are more your style, then you're in luck: Two bridges are within 5 miles of the campground, with three more in the surrounding area.

Shopping is also a favorite pass time in the area.  From the Candle Mill Village and antique shops in Arlington, to the outlet stores in Manchester, there is something for everyone when it comes to shopping.
