There are great resources on the web for planning your trip to Vermont and the Northeast, Here are some of our favorites:

Camping resources:

Vermont resources:

    • www.VermontVacation.com: "Official travel and tourism information on dining, lodging, skiing, biking, hiking, events, and attractions, all things Vermont." The Vermont Dept. of Tourism and Marketing's web site, containing a wealth of information about Vermont, including calendars, a "What's happening this week" section, links to all sorts of Vermont businesses, and forms for requesting printed material on just about any subject you're interested in.
    • The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife: Source of info on, among other things, hunting and fishing seasons and licenses for Vermont.
    • Vermont Attractions: Attractions listed in Vermont.
    • Vermont Sports Today: Published monthly, each issue features articles on a variety of sports such as alpine, cross-country and telemark skiing, canoeing and kayaking, road and mountain biking, hiking and backpacking, in-line skating, running, snowboarding, snowshoeing, triathlon and duathlon. Calendar of events covers races and activities in Vermont and Northern New England.
    • Calendar of Vermont Events by Vermont Life magazine.
    • Green Mountain Club "Protecting and maintaining Vermont's Long Trail since 1910."
    • Adventure Guides Vermont: Professional Outdoor Guide Association & Adventure Travel Network "Providing the public with free assistance in adventure travel planning and outdoor educational opportunities in Vermont."
    • Northern Cartographic: Produces award winning maps and atlases, including their fine Vermont Road Atlas and Guide, which should be in every Vermont traveler's bag; other guides include The Atlas of Vermont Trout Ponds and Vermont Trout Streams.
    Transportation info:
  • If you're driving, MapQuest provides door-to-door directions for travel throughout the US.
  • Flying? Several airlines fly into these major airports serving Vermont: Burlington, VT, Manchester, NH, Boston, and Montreal.
  • Traveling via train is a very convenient way to get here: AMTRAK has passenger service on both the eastern and western corridors of the state, via the Vermonter and Adirondack, respectively.
